Well, what a week so far! Everyone is still excited about the Super Bowl Half-time show. The kids are hyped on Valentine's Day candy. My daughter is on her 8th grade trip discovering Georgia History on a trip to the coast. My oldest is coming home from Georgia Southern this weekend and I am taking my two girls to see Newsies, The Musical, performed by The Henry Players. I am looking forward to the show. Seeing a play at a local theater is one of the items on my 2022 Henry County Area Bucket List.
Speaking of bucket list items, one of my 2022 personal goals is to read 24 books. My first February selection was The Girl Who Could Breathe Under Water by Erin Bartels. It is a haunting coming of age story with plenty of tragedy and overcoming. I really like Erin Bartels' vivid writing style. Read my full review of The Girl Who Could Breathe Under Water on my personal blog.
The picture above is of me and my mom after getting our hair done at Tangled & Teased in McDonough. We enjoyed taking some time for ourselves. It had been months since my last haircut! Along the lines of self-care, I also took time for an old passion last week. Since COVID hit and my daily routine changed, I have packed on the pandemic pounds and gotten out of shape. I am committed to losing 50lbs by the time I turn 50 (less than two years). So, when I saw a Facebook post about a local weekly Zumba class, I thought I'd like to try it out.
Sandra Sewell hosts Zumba twice weekly on Thursdays at 6:30 pm and Saturdays at 9:30 am at Southside church at 171 Race Track Road in McDonough. I was a dancer beginning from age five into college and I still love to dance! I even was a certified Zumba instructor for a time, so I was looking forward to getting back on the dance floor. For just $5 a class, it is an economical way to burn calories and dance away the stress. Sandra was very welcoming during the class and showed ways to do the moves for low and high impact. I am not gonna lie, I was struggling to get through the class. But I pushed myself and made it through and I had FUN! I will be back this week to get my groove on! Join us.
