On Saturday, July 23, 2022, families experiencing economic hardship will have an opportunity to get tools and resources they need for the coming school year. Communities In Schools (CIS) of Georgia in Henry County will host its 11th Annual Parent Expo community resource fair and backpack giveaway July 23rd, 2022, at 10am.
After two years of drive-thru events, this year the Expo returns to the Jason T. Harper Event Center at Heritage Park to host more than 60 local community organizations, including many from Henry County Schools’ Family & Student Services Support division supplying resources and information to families available at their one-stop exhibit table. Other tables range from nonprofits to government agencies, youth camps, tutoring services, and more. Lunch will be provided to families thanks to Rising Phoenix Enrichment Program.
“By placing students at the center of a community of support like the one we have here in Henry County, and linking them to the right supports, we can set kids up for a lifetime of success,” said Crystal McCarthy, External Relations Administrator, Communities In Schools of Georgia.
Parents should plan ahead: all children receiving backpacks at the expo must be present and adults must have proof of residency in Henry County (mail, ID, etc.). There is also a pre registration form to help expedite entry to the event: https://cisga.salsalabs.org/pre-expo/index.html.
