Get Ready for Summer in McDonough, Stockbridge, Hampton, and Locust Grove

The community is opening back and we are ready to get back to normal. What says summer more than summer camp? There are several summer camps and programs open to keep kids engaged and active all summer long.

From science, to nature, to performing arts there are a wide variety of entertaining and enrichment opportunities available to your child this summer. 

 

PANOLA MOUNTAIN STATE PARK JUNIOR RANGER CAMP & OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CAMP

Panola Mountain State Park offers two outdoor summer camps for your child to experience adventure and explore the outdoors.

Junior Ranger Camp

This 5-day program introduces kids ages 6-10 to the wonders of the outdoors. Activities include hiking, frog hunting, bug catching, bird watching, craft-making, geocaching, orienteering, and more. Campers are to bring lunch and snacks. Be sure to apply sunscreen and bug spray each day.

Dates: June 21–June 25, 2021

Hours: 9:00am-1:00pm (Early drop-off is available for a $10 fee)

Outdoor Adventurer Camp

If your 10- to 14-year-old child is interested in archery, bouldering, tree climbing, outdoor living skills, and more, this is the camp for them.

Dates: June 28–July 2, 2021

Hours: 9:00am-4:00pm (Early drop-off/late pick-up is available for a $20 fee)

Location: Panola Mountain State Park

HENRY COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION

The Henry County Parks and Recreation Department offers Day Camp throughout summer. Your child will enjoy arts and crafts, games, swimming, field trips, and other creative means of expression and recreation. Day camps are open to chiages 6-12 (age as of June 1, 2021).

Dates: May 27–August 3, 2021 (No camp the week of July 5)

Dance & Tumble Summer Classes

Ages: 2-13 (age as of June 1, 2021)

Hours: Tumbling (ages 2-4) 3:00-3:45pm; pre-Jazz/tumbling (ages 5-8) 3:45-4:45pm; Jazz/tumbling (ages 7-12) 5:00-6:00pm; dance skills/tumbling (ages 8-13) 6:00-7:00pm

FAMILY SUPPORT CIRCLE YOUTH EXCELLENCE PROGRAM (YEP) SUMMER DAY CAMP


Family Support Circle offers many fun and educational summer options with their Youth Excellence Program (YEP) Summer Day Camp. YEP focuses on helping students in grades 1–8 develop a deeper sense of self, a steadfast belief in their own voice, and the realization that they can influence change in the world.

Children receive tutoring and homework help on various subjects ranging from health to STEM, and they get to participate in various social and recreational activities, including field trips, arts and crafts, sports, nature instruction, games, cultural awareness, special events, and even a STEM-based Zero Robotics program for middle schoolers.

Dates: Session I: June 1– June 30, 2021 | Session II: July 1–July 23, 2021

Hours: Monday–Friday 7:00am-4:00pm (Before and after care are available at additional cost)

SKYCAMP AT SKY ZONE MCDONOUGH

Kids can have fun while staying active, with instructor-led activities, age-appropriate exercise, and Ultimate Dodgeball at SkyCamp! Drop off your child and the SkyCamp team will take care of the rest.

Dates: Session 1: June 7–11 | Session 2: June 21–25 | Session 3: July 12–16 | Session 4: July 19–23

STARLITE FAMILY FUN CENTER OF MCDONOUGH

 

Camp Starlite is an all-inclusive camp is perfect for ages 5-14 and includes lunch and an afternoon snack. Children are fully supervised while enjoying the Starlite's fun attractions including skating, laser tag, indoor playground, STEM/STEAM activities, games, crafts, movies, and even a bounce house and giant water slide!

DRIP-THRU COFFEE SUMMER READING PROGRAM

 

Drip-Thru Coffee is offering a summer reading program for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Drip-Thru believes reading is “FUNdamental” and should be encouraged over summer breaks. Students in Grades K-8 are invited to read at least 10 books by August 31st.

Parents/Guardians can register their child(ren) at the store via their Customer Loyalty Account or summer_reading@dripthrucoffee.com. Once the log is completed, emailed and reviewed by staff, the student will receive a FREE 12oz. fruit smoothie.

Dates: June 1–August 31, 2021

Hours: 7:00 am-4:00 pm weekdays; 8:00 am-1:00 pm weekends

United Dance Atlanta Dance Course

With an incredible team of professional dancers, teachers, musicians and specialists in inclusive dance, United Dance is coming to Atlanta. 

During one week youth and young adults with Down syndrome will have the opportunity to dance with professional dancers to live music in the state-of-the-art dance studios.
