It’s the first week of school for us and getting back to school this year certainly looks different for our family, especially with our daughter attending school remotely. A huge part of planning back to school includes school lunches. For years I made a lunch menu, went to the store to shop for lunch items, prepared the lunches and reminded my daughter to eat all of her lunch. It was exhausting but it had to be done because kids need a nutritious lunch.

This year I decided to take out the stress of planning back-to-school lunches by turning it into fun, teachable moments. Instead of doing all of the work, I empowered my teen daughter to take control of her lunch (with my help, of course). We started by clicking and ordering from the Walmart app. Via the Walmart app, we were able to order back-to-school lunch solutions with easy teen favorites from Kraft Heinz right from the comfort of our home. Picking up our groceries was quick and easy.

Since my daughter is attending school at home remotely, she was able to prepare her own lunch during her 30-minute lunch break. While preparing for her math class, she was able to:

1. Grab her Three Cheese Bagel Bites Pizza Snacks out of the freezer.

2. Prepare her Bagel Bites by following the instructions on the package. While waiting for the oven to preheat, she removed five Bagel Bites from the package and placed them on a nonstick baking tray.

3. Prepare a fresh fruit salad that consists of her favorite fruits: pineapples, mangos, and grapes.

4. Grab a Cherry Capri Sun from the refrigerator and a Hershey Chocolate Jell-O pudding from the pantry.

A delicious stress-free lunch was made quickly by my teen daughter and it allowed me to remove one thing off my to-do-list for the day. Her lunch was so easy for her to prepare during her lunch break from school and it was so delicious that she said she wanted to make her own lunch for the remainder of the school year.
